The Geotechnical Asset Database (GAD) is an integral part of the system; designed to enter, store and display information on the inventory and condition of Geotechnical Assets.
The GAD is used to implement CS641, the UK's Standard for the Maintenance of highways Geotechnical Assets, and to aid in a proactive maintenance strategy.
The following functionality is available with the GAD:
Ability to store information about Geotechnical Assets and associated component objects (see data structure) within the database.
Create, edit, delete, approve and archive information relating to Geotechnical Assets.
View and assess GAD data on a map, with objects located with reference to the highway network.
Approval procedures to ensure that data entered is reviewed and correct.
Attach electronic files with Geotechnical Assets, for example photos.
Record the activities undertaken on a Geotechnical Asset, for example inspections, and changes in the data over time.
Links to Geotechnical Events, for the notification of potential or actual impacts due to geotechnical defects.
Some activities require Editor, Manager or Review permissions, see here for a full summary.
