Archiving GAD Objects

To archive GAD objects, Manager level access is required for the GAD module in the relevant Area (see Access Levels).
See here for how to check your current access level. See here for how to apply for a change in access level.

Archiving data is irreversible! Make sure you understand the implications for all associated objects before proceeding.
If you accidentally archive data, contact the System Administrator immediately.

Geotechnical Assets, items, sets and Slope geometries can be archived.

Archived data is still accessible to all users but cannot be edited in any way. Archived objects are removed from network level reports and are disregarded by the business processes built into the system, for example reported length of archived classified condition sets will not be monitored.

In general objects should be archived when they no longer require management or are otherwise irrelevant, for example:

In many cases, other associated objects are automatically archived at the same time. Generally these are sub-ordinate objects in the hierarchy of GAD objects, which would be meaningless on their own once the parent object is archived. See below for details of the associated objects that will also be archived.

How to Archive an Object

To Archive an object, first navigate to its details page, then click Archive on the Command Bar.

Enter the reason for archiving the object from the predefined list, and optionally add further details in the notes area.

Finally check the box to confirm you intend to Archive all these objects and then click Save on the Command Bar. A banner will appear to ensure you mean to archive the object.

The object(s) will then be archived. A new Activity and an audit log is automatically created to record the change.

In the case of preliminary objects which have never been approved, you should consider whether they should be deleted instead.
Deleted objects are entirely removed from the system, which is appropriate for objects created by mistake, or which contain completely incorrect information.

The table below summarises the associated objects which will also be archived at the same time as the selected object.
