The Geotechnical & Drainage Management Service (GDMS) is developed and operated by Mott MacDonald for the purpose of managing the geotechnical assets of National Highways.
It is a web based Geographical Information System (GIS) based around around a mapping interface. This provides an interactive map that shows various base mapping layers provided by the Ordnance Survey (OS) such as the road network, as well as mapping objects which represent and link to the databases stored in the system.
The system is structured into modules, each of which has its own functionality and link to databases containing the asset or user information. These modules are:
User Management - Contains information on the users of the system and the organisations they represent.
Geotechnical Asset Database (GAD) - Contains information on the Geotechnical Assets including general properties (e.g. geometry, location) and inspection history.
Geotechnical Events - Contains information on geotechnical events and their links to GAD records
Reports Database - Contains information about Reports and where available PDF copies of Reports.
Exploratory Locations - Contains information on ground investigations.
News and Notifications - Provides information about updates to the system and personalised updates for you.
Dashboard - that provides you with tailored information, including lists of required actions (e.g. information to review or approve)

Drawings - Contains information about drawing files in GDMS.
Catchments - Contains information about drainage Catchments and Sub-catchments.
