Linking Geodatasets to Reports and Roads

To create or edit links from Geodatasets to Reports and/or Roads, Editor level access is required for the Exploratory Locations module (see Access Levels).
See here for how to check your current access level. See here for how to apply for a change in access level.

A Geodataset, and thereby the associated Exploratory Locations, can be linked to a Report and/or Roads.

A Geodataset can only be linked with a single Report, most commonly an interpretive Report which analyses the ground investigation results, whilst it can be linked to several Roads.

Although optional forming these links is strongly advised, as it makes the search tools more effective, and will help other users find relevant information.
Linking a Geodataset to its associated factual report allows future users to understand the limitations and context of the investigation results, and also to check the contents of the file are accurate.

Forming a link between a Geodataset and a Report

First navigate to the Details page of the Geodataset by using one of the search tools.

Click Link Report on the Command Bar.

A summary grid listing all of the Reports will be displayed. Find the correct one using the filtering and sorting tools.

Select it, then click Link on the Command Bar.

The link will be formed and an entry will be added to the Geodataset's Audit Log to record the change.
