Manager level access for the Reports module is required for all actions related to Certificates (see Access Levels).

Geotechnical Certificates are part of the National Highways quality assurance processes for the design of geotechnical works, as described in standard CD 622, Managing Geotechnical Risk. They are submitted by the Designer and countersigned by National Highways recording whether the submission is acceptable or otherwise.
The Certificate Status of a Report can be recorded within the GDMS system, and a PDF copy can be uploaded to view online.
To set the Certificate Status, first navigate to the details page of the Report, which must be Approved.
Click Update Certificate on the command bar, and a form will appear with the following options:
Status - Select the Certificate Status from the options, as it is stated on the Certificate itself.
Comments - Optional free-text field for general notes. There is no need to repeat the 'Comments' on the quality of the submission which may be included in the Certificate.
Update Status Only - Select if you would like to amend the Certificate Status and Comments fields, but without replacing the PDF of the Certificate.
Certificate Included in Report Record - Select if the Certificate is included within the PDF Report Record, and therefore does not need to be uploaded separately.
Select PDF - Select the PDF file of the Certificate on your computer. This will be uploaded and all users will be able to view and download it.
Click Save when finished and the Certificate Status will be amended and the PDF uploaded.
The Certificate Status as stated on the Certificate itself takes precedence if there is a discrepancy with the status as recorded on GDMS.
If the Certificate Status of the Report changes, for example following re-submission of a revised document, it is not sufficient to change the status on the GDMS system only. A new Certificate should be prepared, signed and uploaded to GDMS as well.
Many Reports on GDMS do not require a Certificate. It is preferable to set the Certificate Status as "Report does not require a certificate" following the steps above rather than leave the field blank however, so that this fact is unambiguously recorded.
