Downloading drainage assets

Only unlocked asset systems can be downloaded. See unlocking for more details.

Download asset systems from map

To download a drainage asset system in GDMS, you need to navigate to Main Menu > Drainage Assets > Download Asset System. This will start the following process:

You can select one asset and GDMS will find all the assets connected to that, so you can download the full asset system.

  1. A map page will open, where you can define the extents of the asset system you wish to download.
  2. Once defined, a pop-up will appear on the right-hand side. This will show you all the asset systems that have been selected in the extent drawn. You can select and deselect asset systems as required for the download. It also shows you the Area and whether the asset is locked or not.
  3. You must name the download before you can download asset data, as it will show in the scheduled task list. You also have the option to lock the asset system once downloaded.
  4. Once all items are selected, click Schedule Download in the top of the pop-up window. You will then be asked to confirm the schedule download.
  5. A window will then appear showing a download task with a summary of the download. This will show task stage, locked status and number of systems to be downloaded. You can Refresh from the Command Bar to update the task stage.
  6. When the task stage is set to Download Ready, selecting Download Data from the Command Bar will result in a ZIP file being available offline. You can then close the download task by clicking the cross on the tab.

Locking the data is recommended if you intend to round-trip the data, as it prevents other users from downloading and editing the data at the same time.

If you happen to close the tab, before you have downloaded the asset system as a ZIP file, you can access the Scheduled Tasks from the Dashboard. Click Details for Download Tasks.

Download all asset systems within a catchment

There is an alternative way to download drainage assets in GDMS. In the map (or catchment summary grid), select a Catchment and click View Details.

In the Catchment page, there is a Download Asset Systems button in the Command Bar. This will download all the drainage asset systems for the entire catchment.

You will then see a pop-up window with the summary of the download. There is the option to lock all systems in the catchment when you download, as well as a list of how many systems you will be downloading. Once you are happy, you must click Schedule Download.

A window will then appear showing a download task with a summary of the download. This will show task stage, locked status and number of systems to be downloaded. You can Refresh from the Command Bar to update the task stage.

When the task stage is set to Download Ready, selecting Download Data from the Command Bar will result in a ZIP file being available offline. You can then close the download task by clicking the cross on the tab.

If any system in the catchment is locked, then this option will not be available. All locked catchment systems need to be unlocked before you can commence a catchment download.
