Users with “Edit “ or “Manage” permissions can create a flood within the Area(s) they hold permissions. The steps are as follows:
To create a flood, go to Main Menu > Floods > Create Flood.
You will first be asked to define the location, the date and time of the flood.
A form for entering details about the flood location will appear. Input the OS Easting and Northings for the flood or click on the map to populate. The date and time reported for the flood is mandatory to continue creating the flood.
On the next page, the flood will then need to be assigned to a sub-catchment. The default is the closest Sub-catchments, but this can be overridden by selecting an alternative from the grid.
GDMS then checks for other floods with the same date and sub-catchment. Any matching floods are presented in a summary grid. Press next to locate the flood, or cancel if the flood has previously been logged.
Similar to sub-catchments, the flood will then need to be assigned to the road network. The default is the closest road, but this can be overridden by selecting an alternative from the grid. Press finish locating to add details of the flood.
A form for entering details about the flood will appear. All the details should be entered if possible. All mandatory fields need to be populated in order to save and create the flood record.
