Panning 'moves' the map so that regions outside the current view are displayed whilst maintaining the same zoom level.
To pan
Press and hold the left mouse button and drag to move the map.
Release the mouse button to redraw the map and show the new view.
By default the map is orientated North-South.
To rotate the view:
Press and hold the right mouse button and drag to rotate the map.
Release the mouse button to redraw the map and show the new view.
The compass orientation icon in the top right corner of the display window will rotate to indicate the current orientation (line indicates North).
Clicking the icon resets the orientation to North-South.
Some functionality is dependant on the current Zoom Level, in particular some information layers in the legend cannot be displayed at low Zoom Levels.
Zoom Levels range from 6-18, with each increase in level representing a doubling of the scale.
Several tools to control the zoom level are provided on the Command Bar. The basic tools are:
Zoom In - Click to increase the Zoom Level by one.
Zoom Out - Click to reduce the Zoom Level by one.

Displays a selected region of the map at the highest Zoom Level which still displays the full region within the window extents.
To Marquee Zoom:
Click Marquee Zoom on the Command Bar.
Press and hold the left mouse button at a position that you wish to be one corner of your view window.
Move the mouse to the diagonally opposite corner of the window you wish to view. You will see a ‘window’ is drawn.
Release the left mouse button to zoom the map to the window selected.
Centres the view on defined coordinates at a defined Zoom Level.
Clicking Zoom to... on the command bar opens up a dialogue box to request coordinates and a zoom level. Clicking Zoom to Coordinates changes the view.
Clicking Extents View on the Command Bar resets the map to the default view, showing the whole network.
The zoom level can also be controlled using keyboard shortcuts and mouse interactions.
- Rolling the middle mouse wheel will zoom in and out.
- Holding Shift on the keyboard will allow a Marquee Zoom window to be drawn with the left or right mouse button at any time.
- Holding Control on the keyboard whilst drawing a Marquee Zoom window will constrain the window
to be a square.
