Viewing Notifications
Notifications are informative and/or instructional messages personalised to your account.
A list of any unread notifications can be accessed using the notifications icon
, which is always displayed on the Main Screen. The icon also shows how may unread notifications you have.
Each notification includes a brief description, the date you received it and links to further information if necessary (e.g. a news article).
Most notifications can be closed using the 
icon. Some important notifications marked with the 
icon, cannot be closed and are displayed until deactivated by the a Notifications Manager (e.g. notification of future system closures).
Notifications are used on the system to draw your attention to important information, for example:
- changes to your account (e.g. permissions)
- recent news items
- addition of new geotechnical events in your Area (for GMLEs and GAs)
